What We Do

HAHDO’s work addresses the critical challenges faced by climate-displaced populations, focusing on three core areas: health crisis prevention, data-driven research, and building community resilience. Each area is designed to target the distinct needs of communities impacted by climate migration, in  East Africa.

Health and Pandemic Prevention

With climate change and migration intensifying pressure on public health systems, HAHDO prioritizes health crisis prevention in high-migration regions like Somalia. We establish pandemic surveillance systems to detect and respond to health risks among migrating populations. By collecting health data from schools, villages, and border areas, we monitor migration patterns and health trends, using AI-driven models to identify potential outbreaks early. This proactive approach enables us to mobilize resources quickly and reach those most vulnerable to health crises, protecting both migrating communities and the regions they travel through.
             

Research and Data Collection

Reliable data is essential for managing the health impacts of climate-driven migration. HAHDO conducts thorough research to map migration routes, gathering data from schools, community hubs, and border crossings to capture movement patterns. Our AI-powered models then analyze this data to predict health risks, allowing for early interventions that help prevent outbreaks. By translating our research into actionable insights, we provide policymakers and health organizations with a clearer understanding of the challenges posed by climate migration, supporting the development of stronger public health frameworks in impacted areas.
